Robotics startup Enigma raises $71 million seed round, launches interactive robots online

Enigma, a robotics AI startup founded less than a year ago by Jonathan Jacobi and Gal Niv, announced on July 27, 2026 that it raised a $71 million seed round led by Index Ventures and Ribbit Capital, with participation from Conviction Partners and individual investors from OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepMind, xAI, Cognition and Wiz. Rather than building its own robotic hardware, Enigma is focused on the software layer that makes any robot, on any hardware, easier for a person to operate, building AI models that bring intelligence to a machine and novel interfaces designed to make controlling it as simple as adjusting a volume knob. Alongside the funding, the company launched robots.online, which it calls the world's first interactive AI robotics experience, letting members of the public interact with real, physical robots powered by its models over the internet in real time. Enigma said it plans to use the new funding to grow its research and engineering teams, scale its compute, and expand real world deployments, and that it is already working with partners in entertainment, retail and health. The round adds Enigma to a wave of well funded startups betting that the bottleneck in useful robotics is no longer hardware but the intelligence and interface layer that makes existing hardware genuinely usable, a thesis increasingly shared by major labs racing to build their own physical AI models.
