OpenAI made ChatGPT Health available to all US based users over the age of 18 across every subscription plan, according to TechCrunch, expanding a feature it began testing through a dedicated hub in January. The feature lets users connect medical records directly from hospital systems including Epic and Oracle Health, along with consumer health platforms such as Apple Health, One Medical, and Function Health, giving ChatGPT direct access to a user's actual health history rather than relying only on what they type into a conversation. OpenAI says the volume of health related queries it receives has grown to roughly 300 million per week, up from 230 million per week when it first introduced the dedicated health hub in January, underscoring how central health questions have already become to how people use ChatGPT day to day regardless of whether a dedicated product existed for it. The wider rollout comes one day after a Florida based pastor sued OpenAI over what the lawsuit describes as a near fatal suggestion from ChatGPT not to consult a doctor, a case that is likely to draw fresh scrutiny to exactly this kind of expanded health integration just as it becomes available to a far larger user base. The timing puts OpenAI in the position of expanding a health focused product to millions more users at the same moment its handling of health related queries is facing direct legal challenge, a tension the company will likely need to address as ChatGPT Health scales.
