Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a lengthy essay, ‘The Future is for Everyone,’ laying out his philosophy for how advanced AI should be built and shared. His central argument is that engineering a single benevolent superintelligence meant to serve everyone is the wrong target, because people’s values and goals differ too much for one system to satisfy all of them at once. He frames individual empowerment, rather than centralized control, as both the source of prosperity and the foundation of safety. To back that up, he proposed that companies developing frontier AI systems share intermediate training checkpoints and technical staff with the US government while models are still in development, a step beyond current disclosure norms.
