The White House is now dictating access to frontier AI models, shifting power away from tech giants

The Trump administration has launched Gold Eagle, a clearinghouse that will decide which companies and agencies get early access to new frontier AI models, taking that decision away from Anthropic and OpenAI, who have historically controlled it themselves, according to CNBC. A White House official denies the program amounts to approving AI releases.
